More Than Mat Pilates: Beginner Level - 01:00:55
The easiest program in a progressively-more-challenging three-part
series. It features Joseph Pilates' machine-based exercises adapted for
matwork. No Reformer or Cadillac equipment necessary, now you get the
same lean-muscle-building effectiveness without the expensive/bulky
machinery. You'll start with a 4-minute explanation of Pilates
principles followed by a 10-minute warm-up (identical on all three
levels in this series). Then it's a well-cued, carefully-paced Pilates
workout. Sarah Picot includes familiar matwork basics like the
"hundred" and "leg circles." But most of the exercises are adaptations
of equipment-based exercises like "push throughs," "frog," "shave your
head" and "pulling straps" (quickly demonstrated on the machine, then
performed on the mat using the same techniques). That's followed by an
optional short version of the same sequences; it's faster-paced with
less explanation (you can do both sections or just use this as a
"quickie" workout when you're in a hurry)
More Than Mat Pilates: Intermediate Level - 00:59:25
The second program in a progressively-more-challenging three-part
series. You get Joseph Pilates' machine-based exercises specially
adapted for matwork. No need for an expensive Reformer or Cadillac, now
you can get the same legendary effectiveness without the bulky
machinery. You'll start with a 4-minute explanation of Pilates
principles followed by a 10-minute warm-up (identical on all three
levels in this series). Then it's a well-cued, carefully-paced Pilates
workout. In addition to classic matwork basics like the "hundred" and
"leg circles," you get a variety of normally equipment-based exercises
(e.g. "rowing," "swan," "climb a tree," "reverse tricep press").
They're quickly demonstrated on a Pilates machine, so you can see the
movement. Then you'll do them on the mat using the same techniques.
This program builds on the "beginner" video in three ways. It's longer;
it has additional exercises, and it incorporates more intense
modifications (e.g. the "hundred" is 5 counts instead of 4). The main
workout is followed by an optional shorter version of the same
sequences - faster-paced with less explanation (it's the perfect
"quickie" workout after you've mastered the basic series).
More Than Mat Pilates: Advanced Level - 01:22:06
The most challenging program in a progressively-more-intense three-part
series. Now you can do variations of Joseph Pilates' machine-based
exercises without an expensive Reformer or Cadillac equipment. You'll
start with an explanation of Pilates principles and a 10-minute warm-up
(identical on all three levels in this series). Then it's a tough,
very well-cued Pilates workout. Sarah Picot does include some easier
basics like the "hundred" and "leg circles." But her primary focus is
challenging, normally equipment-based routines (e.g. "water wheel,"
"arm press pli?." and snake/twist"). They're quickly demonstrated on a
Pilates machine, so you can see the movement. Then you'll do them on the
mat using the same techniques. Besides having the toughest exercises,
this program maximizes the intensity of the routines you've learned in
the earlier programs. It may add a rotation, increase the reps or
require more difficult positions (e.g. a straight-leg teaser or a "legs
over the head" move). This main workout is followed by an optional
short version of the same sequences - faster-paced with less
explanation (you can also use it as a "quickie" workout after you've
mastered main segment).
